Noora Hospital launches smoking cessation clinic

Srinagar, Apr 02: Noora Hospital, HMT Srinagar on Thursday inaugurated and launched a dedicated Smoking Cessation Clinic under its Neuropsychiatry Department to serve the people of Kashmir in a private healthcare setting.

 

The clinic will operate under the care of senior consultant Dr. Imtiaz Hussain Mansur and aims to provide specialized support for individuals seeking to quit smoking.

 

The inauguration ceremony and seminar were held in the hospital auditorium. Dr. Imtiaz Mansur, Clinical Lead Psychiatry, presented a detailed presentation, while Dr. Mir Mushtaq, WHO awardee for smoking cessation, delivered an insightful address on policies and future course of action.

 

Dr. Nisar Tramboo, Senior Interventional Cardiologist, graced the event as Guest of Honor, emphasizing the medical management of smoking cessation and its critical importance for cardiac patients including who require stenting

 

The program was attended by superspecialists of Noora Hospital, representatives from reputed adjoining schools, NGOs, and distinguished guests.

 

The Smoking Cessation Clinic will remain operational twice a week, with appointments available exclusively through the hospital reception.

 

This will be the first of its kind in the private sector and will serve people at par with other dedicated centres in J&K in line with State Tobacco Control 

 

The unit has been created in view of spike in smoking in the younger age group and the catastrophic results it causes. There will be a comprehensive evaluation under psychologist and all medications, including NRT and prescription drugs, will be provided to the needy after proper consultation. Meanwhile, awareness against smoking will continue
